Thread: Event Custom Map Weekend

Awesome idea. I'd like to suggest two maps...

dod_catania - dod_catania

I've played catania a few times, and it's a well built and complete map. It's not a huge map, but big enough to be awesome, I'd say it's very much like dod_lennon, and I think people liked lennon enough that this would be a hit.

dod_santos (known as dod_saints in the dod 1.3) - dod_santos

I know a few people have requested dod_saints on the source engine, and when I found it, I was in love. This was one of my favorite dod 1.3 maps!

The one downside from downloading from Christian Soldiers is the maps download in an installer package. I have installed them on my PC, and also scanned for viruses etc, so I can vouch that these installers are legit. If in doubt however, you can always connect to a server playing the map and download the map from their. I'm always weary of installer packages personally, but that's what VMWare is for... ;-)

I also have a few more, but I will refrain from mentioning them for now. I was going to suggest this very idea to one of you guys, so I'm happy for the forethought.

Love love love this idea. Question are we going to limit the maps to WWIIish style maps?

We need to bring this map back. GameBanana: dod_coire (Maps > Day of Defeat: Source > Standard > dod_coire) dod_coire. Remake of an old DoD map. Was in the rotation a while back would love to try and give it another chance. Not sure if this is the version Diggles had up before. May want to ask him about it.

I have to check out a couple other maps before i post another suggestion. but i'm all for this idea.

Well I'm good to try out any map unless it's one of those small orange type maps or anything that has to do with just getting a crapload of kills with no real skill involved.

Aura and the really tiny one that Diggles reminded me about... but I always forget the name. Diggles knows which one I am talking about.

Operator, think you might be referring to dod_crash, which was on the rotation as of yesterday... The one that is 3 flags with a bridge and tank in the middle? Its an interesting map, easy to spawn kill and nade spam, but so are a bunch of others.... . Not that any of our members would EVER spawn kill, just saying it's easy on dod_crash.

Maybe we could advertise this on the Message Of The Day, seeing how probably less than 10% of regulars visit the forums... That, and I heard some awesome members are trying to re-instate the MOTD for DOD:S...
