What is this game i have never bothered to look it up. Yet i see lots of people talking about it on multiple forums i will go look at some youtube videos. But other than that is it like any other games like CSS or Old CoD's?
In all seriousness, it's an FPS that only shares some similarities with other HL2 Mods, and it's not DOD (that was the old version), it's DOD:S (running on the source engine).
Basically, you are either Axis or Allies, and you have objectives to either capture flags or on some maps like dod_jagd, the Axis has to plant TNT on a Tank, Half Track, and AA to win the round under a certain time limit, while Allies must protect it during the same time limit. Most maps are depend on team work to get you through the map, with MG's and Snipers doing their part to let the Assault and Support classes move up to capture areas and hold them while the MG's can move up.
When killed, you re-spawn within 10 seconds, and can go right back out there and fight, so it's similar to TF2 in that aspect, but the similarities end there. It also has 7 classes to chose from, both being about equal either on Axis or Allies, just different weapons. i.e. Allies Rifleman gets the M1 Garand, and the Axis Rifleman gets the K98. The weapons are true to WWII, and the maps are based of (mostly) historical battles that happened in WWII.
It's a great game for $10, and very addicting. Go to the Steam store and search 'DOD:S' and watch the media for the game. I personally love the movies valve made for the game, as they used real game play to recreate real battles, and the dod_donner movie is just so good.
If you have any questions in regards to the game, you can add me as a friend and I'm willing to help. Also, there is a thread in the DOD:S forums about how to play better that Bulletstopper created, one of the best players on FFN. Other top players have posted their strategies as well, so it's a very useful guide when starting out.
The last thing I'll say that is good about FFN's DOD:S server is, most players are regulars, and it's probably one of the tighter community of players on any HL2 mod...
Take care,

Ahhh i watched some video about it. It looks like old Medal Of Honor's with CS:S = DOD:S.
The thing that keeps me playing DoD:S is the pacing. The action is fast but not too fast. The most skilled players might approach a 2 to 1 KD ratio because it is very hard to dominate. In a way, it is more realistic because any n00b can take you down. I also am a big WW2 history buff, so I like that it is set in that time frame and the weapons are somewhat realistic. The DoD:S server also has a good mix of veterans and new players and has all talk with lots of strange and unusual conversations.
Alright i will look into buying it.
Looking forward to seeing you guys on DOD:S
Dod is realistic first-person ww2 action if your looking for that sort of thing. It is like the first cods because it is set in ww2, but that is just about it. The only thing that dod and cs have in common is you don't have much health =P. Most of dod is capturing flags but there are some maps that let you bomb objectives. Also, just about every class feels different, and there is some variety in it. That is pretty much all I know off the top of my head, hope it was useful!
I've had DoD:S for all of three days now, and I must say it's the most fun I've had with a PC FPS in quite some time. Despite me being a complete and utter newbie, I still went 30-69 my first game (as compared to 2-41 on my first TF2 game), and managed to dominate one person. It does suck when you join a server that uses (*gasp*) strategy and you have absolutely no idea what they're talking about, but it's very easy to pick up on after a while.![]()
