This game has an INSANE amount of potential, hopefully after this patch comes out I wont have to deal with the large bugs, such as 'y' is noclip, to the smaller ones, just your general lag.
*EDIT* And now my text is all screwed up.
It seems that the PC version of Dead Island isn't behaving quite like you'd expect, with people reporting bugs by the bushel, as well as other oddities like turning on no-clip at the touch of a button and severe lag issues. A curious player started poking around the game's code, and discovered that the Steam version of the game is actually a developer build. There seems to be some dispute over whether this is a development build of the Xbox 360 version released by accident, or a master development build which all the other versions sprung from. Nevertheless, the consensus seems to be that someone has released the wrong version to the public, and that is what is causing all the problems. Developer Techland and publisher Deep Silver have confirmed an early alpha version of Dead Island was released on steam and are fixing the issue.
Publisher Deep Silver issued the following statement: "We apologize for any issues you may have experienced while playing the game. The final patched version will be made available on Steam to North American players today." The company also added that it "deeply regrets that it was not possible to make the final patched version of Dead Island available to players at launch."

This is a huge quality miss and something that is going to require more than a simple patch to make all better.
How in the world do you send the wrong damn version of the code to the distributor?
lol, this is why I dont preorder most games...Except skyrim...Skyrim is always the exception....
I can thank them for giving me a blog topic to write about today. I wasn't sure what today's entry would be about until I saw this.
And yes, I'm sure somebody is flipping $#@! right now over this. I mean.. Anybody who codes knows that this stuff is typically VERY well documented. It just doesn't make any sense to how you could possibly grab and send the wrong damn version of the code.
This kind of quality control slip up defeats the whole purpose of pre-ordering the game. and most definitely $#@!s with people who are on metered bandwidth ISPs like myself. IMO steam should be offering at least $10 store credit to anyone who raises a complaint about their pre-order copy of the game.
The thing is that it wasn't steams fault though, so if anyone should be offering, it would have to be Deep Silver. They didnt say anything to steam about his until today... if they had said something sooner, Valve could have mentioned, hey this si a dev copy currently so buyer beware
