    I need something to read.

Since I recently finished The Song of Ice and Fire series [thus far] and then plowed through 1000 more pages of much lighter reading in the next 5 days, I have found myself at a lacking of things to read.

    Any suggestions? Long-ish (500ish - 1000ish) = GOOD!

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King is one of my favorites to go back through from time to time. Similarly, I read through the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams around once a year or so. If you want a one-off instead of a series, The Stand by Stephen King is another solid piece of work.

    edit:

The Ultimate History of Video Games: From Pong to Pokemon is another really good read. Published in 2001, it cuts off right around the time that Sega bowed out of the console market. Being a video game history buff, this is the first book I could recommend to someone that wants to learn about the history of the business.

Also... anything from H.P. Lovecraft. If you have any interest in his work, just fire me a private message. I can go into the works far more in-depth there. This post doesn't need to be a wall of text.

Amazon.com: Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker (9780316037709): Kevin Mitnick, Steve Wozniak, William L. Simon: Books

Hohen suggested it to me for a school project, pretty good read if you're interested in the early days of hacking.
Too strong of an opinion can interfere with the process of collection.

Speaking of Jim Butcher I should probably go back to the Dresden Files.... I got to book 5 and then got bored out of my wits (Had to use Pdf copy because my friend was anal about his copy).

Yeah..I was thinking of starting that series. I enjoyed the show. the Codex Alera series isn't much like that..it's more song of fire and ice like. but with a Roman flare.

Neal Stephenson's; Snow Crash. Probably the best Cyber-Punk book ever written, and yes I'm very familiar with William Gibson's fine work.

Just finished Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. Pretty cool story.

EDIT: Just noticed you said that the longer the better, then try Neal Stephenson's The Cryptonomicon.

Back to Fantasy, have you ever read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time? Each books is 800+ pages, and the series is about to finish, this year(FINALLY!), on Book 14. Really epic fantasy series, one of my all-time favourites.
