Thread: So I was thinking of getting SWToR but then...

Like i said. Swtor CS has been amazing. I highly doubt that it would take more than simply showing them some form of ID to get his account back. But of course that would be too easy of a solution and doesnt allow people to rage and make a fuss on reddit. Now its about time i stay away from this thread and play some swtor.

Amazing? With all the $#@! stories coming out day after day (the confirmed ones no the off the wall fake ones)? The logical thing to do would be to confirm the posters age before issuing a perma ban, not shoot first and ask questions later.

Rhojin, obviously you're mad at something, not sure what it really is tbh, but it seems to be TOR, if you hate it so much then why even look into it? Why delve into trying to find reasons not to play it? Why not take your time and try to find something else that you don't already hate. So basically, they are legally obligated to immediately take action on the under aged. Sure, there's that whole "you have to click a button saying you are 13" argument, but honestly, who here thinks a 12 year old can't click a button? My 5 year old installs and uninstalls games. A button being clicked doesn't guarantee proof of age any more than "I'm 12" does. It sucks, but what sucks more is not taking action and getting their asses sued for retaining information about under aged kids. There is also the possibility that the person posting "I'm 12" is actually 12. We fought SOPA because we didn't want the government shutting down sites, then we flip face and get angry at sites for protecting themselves from getting shut down by the government. Maybe it's time the Bioware hate was put to bed and the energy used to continue to fight overbearing legislation, which is the real issue.

TLR: A lot of places will ban you as soon as they think you are underage, perhaps because you $#@!ing said it?!? AND THEN they leave it up to you to prove that you aren't. I mean cmon Rhojin $#@!ing think about this for a $#@!ing second, how the hell is Bioware supposed to PROVE that you are underage? Come to the subscribers house? GUESS WHAT!? That's illegal under COPPA if the person is underage! Do they ask you kindly in a pm: " hey this is Droid 434234, also known as Dave, are you sure you are above the age of 13? Cuz if not we have to ban you, but we expect you to be 100% truthfull."

I mean come the $#@! on. Of course they are going to ban your dumbass. Tbh just the fact that you gave them the slightest inclination that you could possibly be under the age of 13 when you aren't, says that you are one of the more immature idiots on the net. Meme or not they still have to follow the Law, they aren't going to $#@! around either cuz it could cost them a $#@!load of money.

Gamefaqs does the same thing too. Joke about being 12 or under, you get instabanned. >_> Made that mistake a long time ago.

I'd suggest that if this thread is continues, you all take a chill pill in your posting. Sitting on or over the edge of being douche's to one another in here, on both sides.

First of all Wicked I was looking into customer complaints a while ago because I was deciding if I wanted to buy the game or not. After having horrible experiences with Blizzard CS department time and time again I decided I wasn't going to walk into another one blindly (Especially because EA has it's hands in this one). After reading the confirmed stories I decided that this was not something i wanted to waste my time and money one. This ban was nothing more than the final nail in the coffin. Don't mistake this for my hate, this is more of confusion of an illogical decision.

I understand COPPA you don't need to keep giving me a run down of it. I was simply pointing out that I was baffled how a mod in this day in age could mistake a well known and overused meme for confirmation that the poster was underage.

TBH I don't think they need to confirm that you are underage, if you give them reason to suspect that you are then give you a month long and wait for ya to confirm that you are above the age.

I would-have done the same thing if I was in the mod's shoes (Assuming this is even real).

If I was the mod and I didn't ban someone who said they were under the age of 13 that could have serious repercussions on my job.

A lot of people hate on corporations for having a lot of idiotic rules and regulations, but they have them for reasons.

IMO, the biggest are:

1. Federal government required regulations.

2. Lawsuit-happy population.

I swear to Buddha every time I turn on the news some jackass is suing a company of something completely idiotic.



So lets say I am this mod and I say "Oh pfft, it's just a meme, no ban needed". Later that week my supervisor either gets word of the thread or sees it himself and approaches me.

"GJ why didn't you ban that person, he admitted to being under the age of 13?"

Me: "Because it is a commonly used internet meme used as a joke."

Supervisor: "That may be, but if it isn't a joke, then we could face a very serious lawsuit."

At this point I could either get a warning which could lead to me being fired later-on, and the supervisor forcing me to ban the person anyways. Or I may just be fired right then and there.



TL;DR - Mod: "I like having a job."
