Protected by the legendary Jedi Order, the Galactic Republic stood as a bastion of peace in the galaxy for a thousand generations. Several centuries ago, the greatest threat the galaxy has ever known emerged in the form of the dark Sith Empire. After a volatile war, the Republic emerged victorious and the Sith were assumed to be extinct. Nonetheless, the Jedi have maintained a constant vigil over the ancient Sith homeworld, Korriban, to protect the galaxy from the darkness that still resides in the planet's tombs.....
Though a small group of survivors escaped to warn of the Imperial invasion, it was only a minor reprieve for the Republic. Korriban was one of several worlds to fall in the initial onslaught, and in the years that followed, the Republic suffered many more painful defeats. Emboldened by their numerous victories, the Empire soon moved to conquer the Core Worlds, luring the Republic fleet out of position and launching a surprise attack against the noble world of Alderaan.
The courageous stand on Alderaan rallied the spirits of Republic defenders across the galaxy, but the balance of the power remained in the Empire's favor. This only fueled the surprise felt when the Imperial Dark Council extended the offer to the Republic to engage in peace negotiations. Suspecting possible treachery, Republic officials agreed to meet on Alderaan, but insisted that the Jedi Order marshal all its resources to provide comprehensive security. The Jedi complied, sending most senior members of the Order to Alderaan, and leaving only a token force in the Temple on Coruscant...
After destroying the Jedi Temple and overwhelming the Republic's defenses, Imperial forces occupied Coruscant, holding the planet hostage while negotiations restarted on Alderaan. With their capital at stake, Republic officials had little choice but to agree to the Empire's terms.
The Treaty of Coruscant was signed, forcing the Republic to cede control of several star systems and to acknowledge new boundaries of Imperial dominion. Though the treaty brought about an official end to the war, tensions between the two sides have remained high over the last several years, and now, a return to open war seems all but inevitable...
The Classes:
Sith Warriors use their anger and hatred to best all opponents in battle. Their Advanced classes are Juggernaut and Marauder. Juggernauts are heavily armored, a key component when rushing headlong into battle. Using powers to increase Rage and Vengeance brings their opponents to their knees in even faster fashion. Marauders use speed and agility to best anyone who dares to stand in their way. Using the Juyo form of lightsaber technique coupled with duel wielding brings unrelentless attacks to victoms.
Sith Inquisitors delve into the darker secrets and powers of the Force and immerse their battle style with augmentation from their lightsabers, but then again why use the saber when Force Lightning extends your victim's suffering? Advanced classes of Assassin and Sorcerer bring even more malice to unwary victims. Assassins are the enemy you never see until you are laying on your back stunned by a lightning infused saber attack that leaves you disabled and drained. Using their knowledge of the Force to hide themselves until the right moment to attack gives the Sith Assassins the upper hand in any fight. The Sith Sorcerer on the other hand have delved even further into the forbidden depths of the Force mastering techniques that make their opponents left drained while making the Sorcerer's allies feeling invigorated, or they simply use their knowledge of the Force to bring utter devastation to everything around them.
Bounty Hunters are the one man army that wreck havoc any where they go. Powertechs use advanced technologies to become a one man blockade, because who wants to run towards a shielded Bounty Hunter with a flamethrower? The Mercenary Bounty Hunter on the other hand prefers to blow everything in his way up with devastating heat-seeking missiles fired from a distance, but when targets are a little closer thick armor and a nice pair of blasters will keep anyone from getting between the Hunter and their target.
Imperial Agents are the Empire's hidden hand. Masters of stealth, seduction and assassinations make the Agents a force to be afraid of. Whether ambushing enemies from stealth or using advanced technologies to keep their comrades up and fighting the Operatives will see their mission to the end. Agents that have proved their marksmanship train to become the Empire's one man asset denial team. Taking out key players and targets from long ranges and safe cover means that the Sniper can turn any battle quickly in their favor.
Jedi Knights make saber thrusts to their enemies look like a beautiful artform, that is until opponents are left looking up at them from the ground. Jedi fight for the good of the universe and are the protectors of the weak and unprotected. Jedi Guardians take this one step further with increased armor and defensive tactics which help them protect themselves and others from incoming attacks. Jedi Sentinels through years of advanced training have learned the discipline of using two lightsabers simultaneously to create a wall of impenetrable light that is certainly deadly.
Jedi Counselors channel the force in combat to strengthen their attacks and for wisdom. Sages, renowned for their wisdom as well as their powerful healing and defensive skills use their insight of the past along with raw Force power to influence the flow of battle. Jedi Shadows use their understanding of the Force and combine it with fierce lightsaber techniques to surprise and defeat their foes.
Troopers are the bread and butter of the Republic, highly trained elite warriors make Troopers one of the most advanced fighters in the galaxy. Vanguard Troopers specialize in advanced tactics to deal with close range combat with added shield generators and advanced blasters to shell out incredible firepower. Commandos on the other hand throw subtlety out the window in favor of massive assault cannons and heavy armor to overwhelm and destroy their opponents. Overkill is never an issue.
Smugglers won't stand in front of you and fight, no they prefer to use sneaky sometimes dirty tactics to kill you. And they do it while looking good just to add insult to injury. Gunslingers love to knock you back with their duel blasters while looking for any advantage they can take. Taking dirty shots is something you should expect. Scoundrels like to pack enough kit, anything from a stealth belt, scattergun or a med pack to get what he needs done and get out.

This game makes me jizz in my pants, I wanna play so baaad! Hurry uup Bioware! GRRRR!
Sucks that space combat in on-rail though
See im not that worried about that because it just means that there will be more for them to throw in our faces in terms of $#@! to shoot. And im going to assume that there will be an open fly area somewhere other wise people would freak.
Ok, I know that the making of the trailers isnt the dev team or anything but still, couldn't they take some assets out of these over-the-top CGI trailer and just make more ingame traileer and put more money into development?
2/3 chance this game will be great, its living and breathing on hype right now, trailers tell us nothing, screenshots are limited at best, and gameplay trailers look promising, but it teaders on the edge of any one mistake that is the bane of all mmo's that can kill it before release. i WANT this game to be good, looking foward to beta
Im really hoping to get in closed beta too, but they announced that there will NOT be an open beta.
get in line with the 1.5 million people who signed up. its dumb how they do beta's no a days, its no wounder why we have such poor game releases.
Remember the days when in order to get into beta's you had to fill out apps and site references with previous games and testing experence. Or when this was an actual JOB, where have all the alpha testers gone, oh yea, there called devs. Its like writing a report, prof-reading it, then prof reading your prof reading and handing it in.
I agree with this. I remember the days of filling out applications for betas as well as having to submit system specs to get an invite to a closed beta. Now you just need to hope you get your name picked out of the hat.
