For those who host MC servers

I don't know about you guys, but I really enjoyed it when the jenkins site went down. It was a great excuse to actually take a break from the daily updates, restarts, patching, and testing. It's nice that the Bukkit guys keep the bug fixes coming, but it brings me to the question for the Minecraft programmers. When will the game be "good enough" or finished so to speak. I mean yeah it's great that they keep adding features; but unless you only play single player, you're probably tired of seeing "server needs updating." Anyone else have thoughts?

In all honesty, updates are still needed in the game. there are still several bugs and a few things that, you can tell, aren't fully implemented.
besides, they aren't updating nearly as frequently as they were during beta. sure, they now have the weekly snapshots, but actual updates are only once a month.
It's still a bit inconvenient, but nowhere near as bad as, for example, TF2 which updates a minimum of once a week. plus, it is a good thing that they keep adding features, as the game does have the potential to get a bit stale, especially if you've been playing since Alpha.

A lot of the updates aren't critical. Many of them are API things that aren't even remotely noticeable. Even if there is a major update you aren't forced to update the server.

When a large update drops I will leave the FFN server on the old version until the plug-ins I am using are updated to at least beta quality. There is no reason to force an update and break all the things on the server.
