Because I personally hate that putting out a teammate gets you one full point. I wouldn't mind it if it was say half a point, but it is currently too rewarding to do so.
I remember once finishing 20 pts ahead of everyone else in a round by simply following a medic/heavy combo around and putting them out every time they got lit up.

Otherwise, I can't see how pyros might be "over-powered", over-rewarded(snuffing teammates) yes, but over-powered? o.O

Phloginistator does sound highly OP as is.

No one cares about points, it's the puff and sting from hell which people generally don't like. That and soldier rape.

Ah, well then I have to respectfully disagree. I can handle most puff'n'sting pyros most of the time as a soldier. The ones that really give me a hard time are just very highly skilled players to begin with.

My verdict as a Medic: The Pyro set is bull$#@!, and I hate you all. It's going to get nerfed into the ground, I bet.
