    Map Rotation - Arena

    This is the current map rotation for Arena:

    arena_lumberyard
    arena_ravine
    arena_sawmill
    arena_badlands
    arena_nucleus
    arena_granary
    arena_harvest_v2
    arena_well
    arena_waste_final
    arena_polar_final
    arena_backlot_rc2



    Posting suggestions for new maps in this thread will result in consideration of said map by the admin team. Please include links to the map's development page, preferably including screenshots.

    The biggest thing this needs I guess is some new blood, so to speak. We've had this same rotation for a very long time, and no new maps coming in and out.. honestly, the rotation can get abit stale and very worn out.

    i'd post links for maps to try out, but I don't know if arena has something like Map montage does.

    Currently there is no rotation manager for Arena as far as I know.

    I would be happy to do the administrative part of it if someone else would want to test out maps and get player feedback on new ones, but if you're going to do that you may as well do the rotation management yourself.

    There was a thread of suggestions a while back, but it didn't have any development information. I'll look into possible new maps and post my findings.

    In the meantime, some food for thought. Offblast is sitting out in this rotation. I know it was taken out due to hate, but it's always a thought.

    EDIT: Shaman, Glass and I are applicants for the Rotation manger position. No one, as far as I know, as been yet selected.

    I Always loved offblast, and I think it's wrong that it's off the rotation because people hated it back in FUG ((I don't remember if we had it after the switch))

    @shaman: I was thinking about it.

    I have not been able to check this one out extensively, but there's a map known as arena_frieght based off of cp_frieght. It can be found here, and perhaps it's worth considering.

    Please note that I have not been able to check this out yet thanks to blocking firewalls. I've heard about it through a third party.


    EDIT: Nevermind, this map appears to be nonexistent from the given link. An arena_freight_final was mentioned, so I'll scrounge around for that.

    Okiedokey, some of the Arena regulars asked about a 2fort arena map a while back. I believe I found one here.

    Advantages:
    -Some people know this map well
    -No big health packs - only small ones in sewer "bases"
    -Small metal in sewers, larger metal near spawn
    -May give engies a chance to shine a bit

    Concerns
    -Map's a bit old?
    -Water in middle can prevent pyro effectiveness
    -Map may be a bit big for Arena gameplay
    -CP at bridge may be a chokepoint, but this may also be an advantage.
    -Rifle Snipers get a large advantage with the battlements

    Just my thoughts on it. Feel free to give 'er a whirl.

    if there is the bridge in the center where I assume the capture point would be in the end, then im not too worried about pyro effectiveness. The only thing im worried about is that it would turn into rocket/nade spam on the center point after the first minute.

    The other thing is that it looks like the map might abit small, but I think it'd be worth a shot to see how it works, im just worried about that all it'll turn into is spam...
