Things not to do as a scout.

#1. Spawncamp. Now a scout can be an effective raider of the "supply lines" but against more than one opponent at a time, scouts are glass cannons.

Especially if a medic-heavy combo are suppressing said spawn.

    And the intel is unguarded.

#2. Not tell your team where you dropped the intel, 'cause you want the cap. This is a freaking team game, and a cap is better than no cap. Hell if a scout really wants the cap, and I have the intel, I'll usually pass it to them. However not telling the team where you dropped the intel is idiotic. This is TEAM Fortress 2, not Individual Fortress 2.

Feel free to add more if you think of any, but I just felt a need to rant a bit due to one particularly dumb scout on my team just now. . .

Something that happens way too often is watching a scout double jump into danger, fire his FaN and get knocked back to where he was.

Then watching him keep doing it.

Sometimes it is an evasion tactic! *jump* *jump* Aww crap *blamblam* *safe*

But yeah, usually it is a reflexive "oh$#@!" that works better with the scattergun.

I'm far from the best player in the world, but I would also say to avoid almost any direct combat with most other classes unless your just trying to distract the enemy. A scouts speed isn't to close the distance in a face to face combat, its to flank unsuspecting enemies and scattergun/bat their heads in from behind.

But I believe your point about team communication applies to all classes Eradikitten, not just to scouts

Well yeah, every class should say where they dropped the intel. You should be annoyed too, Funk, as it was your team that got shorted.

Funny how this makes sense yet so many do the opposite

I agree with you, but playing scout like a terrorist has its benefits.

when the morning comes it doesn't seem to say an awful lot to me

Oh, critcola scout behind enemy lines is just as effective an ambusher as a good spy. . . and quite a bit easier to play. But there is a difference between playing a quality ambusher, and trying to get easy points spawn camping.

The specific incident I'm referring to involved me as medic and a heavy holding the Hay room in 2fort for about 4 minutes. We were just trying to make sure someone could get out of the intel safely. . . but this jizzgargler of a scout was trying to get kills with his FAN. Just sitting at the corner of the door and shooting whenever it opened. For over half a minute.

Well if he successfully managed to keep players from coming out and he was killing them then id say its a win for him, who cares if hes not "supposed" to be there? Why cry about someone because they "stole" your kills with a disadvantaged class?
