There better be a way to get the default start menu back. those panels are such a waste of desktop space it's not funny anymore.

My suitemate has been using the dev preview on his netbook. So far, there is not actual start menu despite the showcase (it will look like one, but it takes you back to the tablet display)

The full version of Windows 8 that makes it to retail will have both the Metro-view as well as the classic Windows-view depending on what look you prefer.

I'm curious to how Microsoft will price Windows 8 and how many versions they'll release. Apple released Mac OS X Lion at a digital download price of $29 and a retail price (flash drive based) of $69. Both copies are the same; however, the digital download requires Snow Leopard whereas the flash drive based copy can install on any Intel-based Mac regardless of OS. What's a full (non-OEM) copy of Windows 7 cost? Nearly $199? And thst's for what? Home Premium? If Microsoft wants to release multiple versions of Windows 8, it should come down to two versions: Consumer and Enterprise. That's it. It should also be at a similar price compared to OS X if they want to compete against Apple.
